HELEN’S BRIDGE HOLIDAYS |
Bridge is fun! |
I’ve been busy adding new holidays and checking out new hotels, so watch this space!
The most recent additions are holidays at new hotels:
The first new venue for February 2026 is the Weston Hotel in Scarborough from the 9th to 12th February. It really is important to book this one early as here is a flat rate for everyone with the bext rooms going to the first people to book. The new Welsh holiday at the Dunoon Hotel, Llandudno from the 27th February to 2nd March 2026 is filling up fast. The closing date for booking this holiday is the 31st May 2025. The last new hotel for 2026 is the Makeney Hall Hotel, Derbyshire from the 26th to 29th October 2026.
Below, you will a list of holidays in the next six months which are not fully booked. There’s quite a gap this month to accommodate a private Bridge Club holiday, Easter and my 70th birthday before I’m off to the Kensington Hotel in Llandudno from the 28th April to the 1st May. This is a basic hotel. The food and accommodation are reflected in the price, but there’s nothing wrong with the food and the rooms are spotless and contain everything you need. The best features are the ballroom for bridge and the car park which has always been big enough to accommodate everyone. Then, of course, there is Llandudno itself which is the icing on the cake.
After that, there’s another trip to the ever popular Bedford Hotel, Lytham St Annes, for a 3 night holiday from the 9th to 12th May. Sorry, no single occupancy rooms left, just a few rooms for double occupancy only.
Then, from the 16th to 19th May, I shall be at the Shap Wells Hotel, famous for its red squirrel population. This is another hotel where you really need a car as it is literally in the middle of nowhere, just outside the village of Shap though only minutes from the M6 on the way to Penrith and lunch may not be available in the hotel. It has greatly improved over recent years and is one of Patrick’s favourites. You do need to let me know if you struggle with stairs as some of the rooms can only be accessed via the odd short flight. Strangely enough, it’s the 2nd floor which is the most level and fully accessible by the lift.
There are more places available at the North Euston Hotel in Fleetwood from the 23rd to 26th June. While Fleetwood might not be everybody’s idea of a holiday destination, the North Euston is very popular with my guests. If you’re a fan of trams, you pick one up from just outside the hotel which will take you all the way to Blackpool or any spot along the way. It offers pub-type meals typical of the 1970’s, so expect prawn cocktail, chicken a la king and black forest gateau. Being such a large hotel, the rolling program of updating takes a while to reach all the rooms. I’m always fascinated by the ever-changing views of the sea and the friendliness of the staff. This hotel does not restrict the number of rooms I’m allowed for single occupancy. I’m also going there for a Twimas break for that very reason.
There’s just one holiday in July. It’s at the Skipton Hotel (formerly the Rendezvous) from the 21st to 24th July. March sold out, so if you fancy a trip to Skipton, you need to book early. The hotel calculates prices by room rates, so a double occupancy room costs £570 plus bridge and there is a £135 discount for single occupancy. Prices on my website are quoted per person. DEADLINE FOR BOOKING 20TH MAY 2025.
In August, I’m back at Ednam House, Kelso, from the 11th to 15th immediately followed by Shap Wells from the 15th to 18th.
In September, I’m back at the ever popular Cave Castle at South Cave in East Yorkshire from the 1st to 5th. This is another hotel where a car is advisable unless you want to spend your afternoons playing golf on the hotel’s course (pre-booking required) or in the swimming pool or gym.
I then have two back-to-back holidays on the Fylde coast. The first is at the Bedford Hotel, Lytham St Annes, from the 12th to 15th and the second at the North Euston Hotel, Fleetwood, from the 15th to the 18th. There are only sharing rooms left, whereas there are no restrictions on single occupancy at the North Euston.
Finally, there’s a weekend holiday at the Skipton Hotel from the 26th to 29th. If this proves as popular as the March holiday, you would be well advised to book soon!
For details of all these holidays, click on the dates above. If you wish to be added to the waiting list for holidays on the website (www.helensbridgeholidays.co.uk) which are currently fully booked, just send me an email. There is no obligation. If I have a cancellation, I contact you to see if you’re still interested and available.
And finally…..congratulations if you have made it this far. I’m looking forward to seeing over 500 of you this year for bridge and maybe for a late session of Mexican Train Dominoes or Rummikub after bridge in the evenings. We might even invite you to join us for one of Treasure Trails’ treasure hunts. Take care and keep smiling
